The ELM327 V2.1 OBDII Scanner is a diagnostic tool capable of reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and displaying their meanings from a database of over 3,000 generic codes. It can clear trouble codes, turn off the "Check Engine" light (MIL), and display real-time sensor data including engine RPM, coolant temperature, vehicle speed, intake air temperature, and fuel system status.
No, it does not require external batteries, power cables, or switches. It connects directly to your vehicle's OBDII port and draws power directly from the vehicle (12V operating voltage).
The scanner utilizes a wireless Bluetooth connection with an effective range of 5 to 10 meters. It can easily connect to Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices, tablets, or computers equipped with a Bluetooth card.
It supports cars that follow standard OBD 2 protocols. This includes USA cars made after 1998, EU cars made after 2000, Japan & Korea cars made after 2002, China cars made after 2005, and Russian cars made after 2011.
The V2.1 version supports 7 main protocols: ISO9141-2, ISO14230-4 KWP (both 5 baud and fast initialization), and ISO15765-4 CAN (available in 11bit/29bit IDs and 250/500 Kbaud rates). It also supports user-adjustable defaults like SAE J1939 CAN, USER1 CAN, and USER2 CAN.
